1948 Ford Convertible
-
Can anyone give me some info about a 1948 Ford Convertible stock dash. Can the entire dash (not just the instrument cluster) be removed from vehicle? If so, instructions please.

Yes, the instrument panel can be unbolted from the body. First remove the windshield reveal moldings [ window frames] there is a row of sheet metal screws under them. Remove the sheet metal screws. At the lower corners of the panel there are brackets bolted to the inner cowl panels, remove one or two bolts on either side. Finally remove two nuts/ bolts from the steering just behind the face of the panel thru the lip. The panel should lift out now if it hasn't fallen out already. If they're not out already, I would first remove the gauges, radio, clock, glove box and door, it will give more room to manuver and you can leave the wiring hooked to the guages for the time being.
