Have I been kicked off this forum?
-
I deleted my favorites link to this forum several months back when several of us were posting about Kgaps delinquent service. Now I can't seem to access the forum. Did I get kicked off the site for this?...slim
-
Hi Slim, Welcome back!!! No you did not get banned. What happened was that the world changed and what, how, and all that stuff changed. There is a new format to learn but the same folks are still here passing wisdom and making comments. Once again, welcome back....Brownie
-
Thanks Brownie. What a long, strange trip it's been. A couple of guys with my email address told me that they thought that several of us were banned. I wasn't sure that I wanted to be a part of any group that would allow me anyhow!...Lol
I'll see if I can learn to navigate around the new format...slim -
Welcome back Slim. If an old phart like me can learn to re-navigate the "NEW" forum, you sure can.
I admit I was a tad shocked when I went to log in the other day and discovered my old bookmark didn't work. So I snuck in thru the back door, going to the forum list, then to the Hudson forum - which I then bookmarked. And here I be in all my wrinkled glory!!!!!!!!

Welcome back, Slim!:cheer:
This new format is pretty user friendly especially those of us in "The Home for the Technologically Challenged".
Looking forward to seeing more pics of your coupe with beautiful scenery as a backdrop!

It would seem to me that this new format is not being used nearly as much as was the prior one.
It's far too, & unnecessarily so, complicated - you'll notice there are 31 items across the top + a whole bunch of idiotic "emicroms" or whatever they're called.
Whoever designed this forget the demographics of those who use it, or used it. -
I think like everything else, it takes time to re-learn to navigate.
Most people don't like change but in todays world, it's necessary.

We know who is using the forums. I seriously doubt that many members have a clue what it takes to make all this work and at the same time keep out the spammers and stay instep with the patches that take place several times a month. If we waited to have everything 100% perfect, you would be looking at blank page right now.
The forum software is not written specifically for ClassicCar.com, something like that would cost many thousands of dollars and not improve over time. That is not say that we don't have a few thousand dollars worth of time into it to make it fit our needs.
You can't restore a car overnight and doing so while everyone is driving it even more of a challenge. Consider these facts as you surf through our hard work.Ted J. Welch

With all due respect, this seems like a crass reply to a legitimate complaint, if I may make such a comment. Indeed, most of us here are more accomplished at restoring old Hudsons than we are at "surfing" the sites. Our common bond of Hudsons keeps us comming back to communicate with others that are like-minded, but we all too often have to make compromises with the medium.
As awkward as we may be though, I don't think any of us would spend much time looking at a blank screen for long before we would make an attempt to move on to a friendlier format...slim -
We hope you don't feel that learning something new would be seen by our staff as a legitimate complaint. Change is enviable and my message was to help people understand that there is far more to accomplishing a workable forum than is known by those that use the service. The facts may appear to you as crass, they are merely facts and I would not look for anything more in the message than what is stated. Members are free to move about, we do our best to provide a good service and we do it free of charge.Ted J. Welch
