1972 Firebird restoration
-
I have this 72 Bird with factory, fiberglass twin scoop hood being restored at Jeff Lilly Restorations in San Antonio. It had a frame off restore for the last two years on and off, ordering new parts, going through rotations, etc. It will be A/C cooled using newer model compressor mounted next to the alternator via with fabricated brackets instead of the way it sits on the far right of the engine in the old times, nasty. Here is the link to Jeff Lilly.

I just can't wait to turn the key. The motor was built by Butler Pontiac Performance in Tennesee. The 400 block was stroked to 461 four bolt main, Eagle crank, Eagle rods, Ross 9:4 to 1 compression, Competition roller cam: duration .050, 236/242 and .520/.540, modified, ported 6X cast iron heads with 2.11/1.77Ferrea steel valves, Competion roller rockers/lifters, Holley Street Dominator intake, 800 Holley double pump, TCI Super Streetfighter Turbo 400 tranny and Ford 9 inch rear with 3:55 gears. I expect this car to run 11's. It was dynoed at Butler and rated at 514 horsepower and 544 feet pounds of torque, RPM range up to 5800-6000. The printout I have here says 500 pounds of torque at 3000 rpms. There is too much to list. Here is the link to Butler.

I am in dire need of a new dashboard or mint condition and black in color for this car. Lilly charges for search for one, dang, 65 bucks an hour to look for it.
The factory had made some molds but had a bad fit so it was returned to the factory and will not sell it to the public till 2006 or 2007, I do not want to drive it w/t a dash.
Thanks and it was great being on Classic Cars.
BTW, I have having a hard time posting pictures of restoring process, one picture has a file of 329 MB, it can only accept 30 something MB??????
