Moved to Vote
-
I'll be the first to admit, I'm a lazy voter and I'm not proud of it.
However, watching the last decade as both the ruling parties have made a mess of things I am going to make a pledge to myself to get more involved.
I have watched politicians stay in office too long. I have seen too much graft and corruption across all phases of government.
I want people of character, who believe in small government, balanced budgets and fiscal conservancy voted into office regardless of political party affiliation.
The political elite are entrenched and have no fear because they have no term limits. It's time we give them term limits ourselves.
No matter what party you support, or none at all - we have to get out and vote this November. We must show politicians that they can no longer treat us this way, keep racking up debt and that they must answer to us.
Please check out my home page, I put up a link to a good video that should get you thinking at least.

Have voted every election since retirement from the military (I tried absentee voting for several years while in the military - it was and still is a bad joke... ).
I wouldn't vote for Pelosi to be dog catcher @ the Mustang Ranch ... And I sincerely hope that Milkulski (D-Senator, MD) and the rest of her bunch don't get re-elected in Nov.
The biggest problem is getting most of the liberal NUTS in this state to look beyond the tip of their noses & see what is going-on around them. -
The problem is not, per se, completely in Washington or the politicians. The biggest problem is right in the living rooms of America - the voter. Politicians promise the voters the moon - better jobs, more of this, more of that. And what we get is more BS - yet we keep voting them in.
The voters have got to vote these people out of office every election until they get the idea that the voters are the one's they represent - not the fat cats that they sell their souls to every time.
Another thing that is messing up the political process, so to speak, is the news media. I'm really of the opinion that the way the media goes after anybody running from office (reporting such things as "WOW - Joe Blow smoked one joint in college!!!!!!!!!!!!") that it has turned many good candidates away because they want to concentrate on the issues, and the media wants to concentrate on the hype. George W. Bush, excuse me IMHO, is a great example of this. Just look at his presidency. Talk about somebody not qualified for dog catcher in Podunk. Karl Rove and the media got him elected - twice!!
My soap box for the morning.

Alex - I couldn't agree more!
Part of my reason to wade into semi-political waters with this post is to hopefully stir some others to exercise their voting rights.
It's pathetic that our voting election percentages are lower than Iraqis or Afghans voting - and I've decided to be part of the solution.
November is an important election and most states have a 30 day period in which you need to register to vote (in case you've moved or never registered) and we're right close to that threshold! -
Good job Rambo!

Although I have yet to be asked why I vote (and the way I vote) - my response would be that I have been and am being compelled to vote due to the fiscal irresponsibility of elected officials, not to mention their lack of sense of right & wrong, or their absence of morals & skewed judgement.
However, up to this point it has been like spitting into the wind, or trying to douse a house fire with a squirt gun. The 'Tea Party' has the right idea, however I do not like what I think of as their self-appointed spokesperson... -
Here in New Zealand it's generally understood that if you don't vote then you can't grizzle about those elected!!

But that doesn't stop those that don't vote from complaining the loudest - And unless they admit it, you can't tell those who vote from those who don't! -

Dunno... I like the pro-gun, pro- family, pro- traditional American, anti- illegal alien, secure borders, anti- Pelosi views. I can think of alot worse people. -
When Discussing politics and the other guy says something derogatory about my choice for Office, I always ask ,Well Who did You vote for? When told "I didn't vote I just say then shut the he.. up! If you don't like the system then either try to change it by voting the incumbent out and a new guy in. If You don't have time or interest enough to vote, I don't want to hear your moaning and groaning about who got elected.

A great comment Bob. I fully agree!Jerry
