1968 HET Nat'l in St Louis

    I have a research request that I am hoping someone can fulfill that has been around HET and Hudsoning for a long time.



    The black '34 Terraplane convertible coupe that I now own is said to have been in attendance at the St Louis National back in 1968. If you have a photo or two in your old meet album I would very much appreciate receiving a scan of that /those photos.



    History of where a car has been and what it has done is very hard to put together but any individual link, even a license number like will probably be in those photos, can be a key to further information.



    Two pics of how I assume the car appeared back then are attached although convert top color and whether or not whitewalls may have changed during intervening years.

    One thing that would make the car stand out in your scrap books and perhaps in your memory is that the car was pinstriped in RED the length of the body and also the hood louvers. The hubcaps, wheel covers, rear bumper overriders, and hood ornament were also painted in with RED.

    Another possible memory jogger: I found a business card in the car today from Bob Pass of Passport Transport who were located in St. Louis. It would appear that Bob had this card on the car at the meet. It states "For Sale" and "See us here" and gives the car # as 219.



    Did any of you buy this car at the meet? Or later? I'm trying to fill in a lot of years of history here. If Pass owned it in '68 that is the only name I have prior to 1985.

    I have a picture of the car I took at St. Louis in July 1968 at the HET National, I believe. Frank S. Gambino owned the car at that time. He had a couple of signs displayed in front of the car, one on Hudson history, the other on info about the car (cost new, etc.). At that time the car had whitewalls and a white top. I took the picture on my old Rolleiflex, so the photo is in square 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" format. I have no scanner, but I'll take the photo to Walgreen's to see if they can make a copy. Send me your address, and I'll send the copy to you. Dee

    Also have heard that the car was seen in Ft. Wayne, IN in 1961 and was for sale at the time for $1,500. That was THEN !

    I looked through an old WTN from 68 a guy was selling a 54 Hollywood new paint new tires and new engine. Plus 3 other cars one a convertible you had to take all four cars for $500. I have been phoning the number in it for weeks he still hasn't answered.

    Over the decades the area code probably changed. Get the new area code for that city and TRY AGAIN.



    Then, if you have the address, use Google Maps and look down in the back yard and see if the cars are still there.
