Brand X Woodies
-
Hi all,
A friend just sent me an email about a collector that was going to sell off some of the woodies he has collected over the years. I did not hear anything about this, have any of you? Here is the email and pictures:
Phenomenal Collection of "Old Woodies"!!!
It is, indeed, a wonderful collection. Nick Phillips owns all of them, and
they are to be sold at a special auction in August at Pebble Beach. Nick
is selling out to focus more on his ranches and horses. He is a BMW dealer
in Los Angeles and has been actively working on this collection for nearly
12 years. Can you imagine the $$$ value of these old dears, plus
insurance. Yikes !!
It is located just south of Downtown Los Angeles.
Enjoy!

"Spend more time with his horses"- is the man insane?
I've been trying to spend less time with my wife's horses for 30 years!
Would love to stay and chat, but gotta get out and finish that fence. . . -
This collection and the owner were profiled in Hemmings Classic Car. Can't believe he is selling them all.www.hudsonmotorcar.org

Did not see a Chevrolet or Hudson in the group. Oh Well, class is class. I am not sure I could handle that many car let alone woodies.. I would love to try...Brownie

Anyone have a link the actual auction announcement?
I've received a half-dozen emails with these exact photos in them over the last 3-4 years. Up until now, there was no mention of an auction...
Could this be some type of practical joke? -
Hello Rick and Lance, this collection was owned by Nick Alexander. See:http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/04/nick-alexander-collection-in-los.html

It seem that not only can Nick not say no to an offer, he can't say no to a woodie either!

If you can afford those, you pay someone else too

Nick Alexander sent 50+ Ford Woodies across the auction stage at the Concurs Delegance RM auction held at Pebble Beach. All of the cars were road ready. This auction was featured on the Discovery Channel show Chasing Cars. Wayne Carini ( Hudson Italia owner) represented a high end buyer who purchased a Ford Sportsman from the group of cars. http://dhd.discovery.com/tv/chasing-classic-cars/episodes/episodes.html
