I love those years of Chevy trucks, especially panels. Hell, we bought a '07 Chevy HHR more or less for that reason, nice little car too. Wish I had the money to get a panel HHR for my everyday car.Six in a row makes it GO!

Good friend here in Utah has one of these restored with his business name on the side. He has added several "speed tricks" to the stock 6 cyl. They are a very nice vehicle; except, that it drives like a semi....Brownie

Brownie, thought might like to see some pictures of my '40 Ford Sedan Delivery. Dave

Them's ride like a semi for a very good reason - they were built back in the day when a vehicle of that class (pickup, panel, etc) were built for work, not haul sweet cakes down to the corner store for groceries. Pickup trucks from the early 80's on back were built to last.......and last...........and last............

That's a beautiful '40 Dave...I like everything about it, especially the wheel treatment and the simple trim.
As for steering, my '55 Chevy pickup needed constant steering correction. I replaced everything on the front end, rebuilt the steering box, etc. Finally a mechanic friend said "that's as good as it gets." My 15-years older Hudson with IFS and centerpoint steering rolls straight down the highway at speed with just one finger on the wheel. (Not that I recommend that)

My '40 rides pretty good. It is not the smoothest ride but for 70 years old it is not bad. It had an air ride when I bought it but it kept losing pressure so I installed coil overs and it is much better. Have a small block 350 with headers and 4 barrel carb. Can't go more than a few miles down the road before it gets noticed. I have made a few upgrades but the primary restoration on this one was done by someone else.

Yep, me and "ole' Sweet Cakes" jump into the 60 El Camino and head on down to the Artic Circle for an ice cream every now and then. I know she loves the trip because she is asleep even before I get out of the driveway. She is a good ole' Basset Hound and has about the same level of energy that I do......
A man, his car and his dog.... could life get any better?Brownie -
