"Oliver" (36 Terraplane coupe) and I are outta here
-
:(I expect this tread to be deleted by the administrative gods before many have a chance to read it, but I feel a need to say "goodby" to my cyber buddies as best as I can.
I have gotten a lot of good from this site and it is with mixed feelings that I let it go. That being said I cannot continue to be any part of any forum that is led around by an administration like a bull with a ring in his nose.
To me, the act of deleting posts and steering conversation does nothing but stir up controversy, resulting in unsettled debate.
The adminstrator points out that he "owns" the site and can do what he wants, but he doesn't "own" me and I cannot abide by his conditions. He may have the power to direct conversation, but I have the right to go elsewhere.
Big deal, you say, "Who cares", but I will be removing the site from my favorites and no longer continue to contribute.
Good luck, and thank you to all the members who have helped me, but the knowledge that someone is looking over all of us and deciding what we should think and discuss is more than I can take and I will be taking my Terraplane toy to different sand boxes...slim

Please reconsider. I too have a 36 Terraplane. I had a birthday a couple of months ago, and now I'm the same age it is.
You have some valuable information, that if you leave, I won't have access to.
One of the other guru's, who posts regularly got some unfair criticism several years ago, and was ready to bail. He was encouraged to stay, and we all benefit every day or so that he posts. He's one of the most experienced people on here.
The only thing leaving will accomplish, is that we'll lose a friend, and you'll lose us.
Incidentally, mine is painted 80% 'Oliver' Tractor Green/20% Black' w/black fenders. -
Denver,
I would hate to see you not contributing your opinion , knowledge and experience. I have a 36 as well and over the posts I have obtained a lot of data from you and the folks who have traveled down the road that I started on not long ago.
Being and old guy, I have watched the "powers that be" overview my life in many ways. I retired last year because I had had enough of the oversite of all who were higher on the pecking tree than I was. Well, that and the fact that current political administration canceled the Aerospace programs. I find in retirement there are still those who tell me what to do and often when to do it.
Open conversation is important and our forum, though sometimes heated, give us both sides of an issue. This is an important aspect that I would hate to loose. Both sides of an issue is what makes this forum as good as it is. I visit often so I see most of the posts before the "owners" take a side and delete a post.
I have had some nasty comments thrown at me once or twice. It simply gives me the opportunity to decide where my head is placed and do I need to reconsider my opinion... And sometimes I do.
Anyway Denver, understand your reasons and feelings but would miss the opportunity to throw a comment your way for feedback and as my doctor once told me when I was passing a kidney stone a few years back---"This too will pass."

I agree.

Well said sir. I'm right behind you and am in full agreement. .Yesterday was an absolute disgrace and the administration/moderators of this forum should be ashamed of their actions.
Perhaps before I go, one last stand. So keep your night lite on Alex Burr. -
Goodbye!
Goodbye to all those that feel that this is their place to spread rumor, their spot to act ungentlemanly, their personal arena to rant about things they know nothing about. Goodbye to those that post only to berate other members and stir the pot of discord. Goodbye and good wishes!!! You will not be missed.
Best Regards,
