Hey Ron, where would I find the numbers on a 62 Ford to verify it is a numbers matching car? Thanks as usual, Richie.
-
Well Richie, the simple answer is there are none.
Ford is not like GM and did not use any part of the vin to verify that the engine in the compartment was installed in that car. In other words no part of any number in the V.I.N. is on the engine also, like G.M. You can only verify correct date codes to make a possible match to that car. Also in the V.I.N. is the 5th digit that will tell you what engine was installed in that car. So if the date codes on the engine and the correct engine is installed in the car, then that is as close as you can get. You will never know if it was the one installed at the factory.
Hope this helps

Thanks Ron, I did some research and read a few articles and they said the same thing you said. I guess all you can do is just make sure the engine date code is earlier than the date the car was built and that is about it. Thanks again Ron. Richie.
