51 Coupe paint job on EBAY
-
I was looking at the door jambs and was wondering if this car was originally all blue. Then at a later date they painted it two tone. I question this because I thought the door jambs would be split upper and lower colors. Am I wrong? Was it done a specific way by Hudson? Thanks. Bill

You are correct and overspray can be seen on the interior of the door edges. Some of the items on this car appear a little hooptie.
The rocker and skirt trim on the passenger side is also very wavy.
Just the overspray on the doors are a good hint the paintwork may need to be re-done properly -
As I recall, all Hudsons were first painted a solid color - in this case the car was most likely dark blue all over. Then at some time in it's life someone decided to two tone it with "French Gray" on the lower portion. If this would have come from the factory with this two tone, the door jambs would have been French Gray, and the dark blue would have been applied on the roof. Hudson did not carry the two tone on to the door jambs like some of the other manufacturers.Jerry

Thanks for the answer Jerry. I like the color scheme on this 51 and I have a 51 coupe. I wanted to make sure I paint it correctly. Thanks again!
