More people smile at a Hudson!
-
I swear!
I have 4 classic cars that are drivers. It's sometimes a pain to keep them all in driving condition, (you know--tires, batteries, electrics, rubber stuff, etc) the poor things are expected to set in the garage for months on end with no activity, then with the turn of a key, fire up and go. And be looking good too. Lol.
Anyway, I took my '36 out for breakfast this morning, then out for a long trip around the lake to get back home. All over town, folks drop their grouchy, gotta-get-my-business-done, attitude and smile when they see my car. Takes em back, I guess, to easier times, when things were built to last.
I love what this old car does to people.
The saying is right. You meet the nicest folks in a Hudson. (Or a Terraplane.)
Have a nice day...slim

Great car Slim. I am glad you can make some people's day by showing your car.

Slim, I think you have just explained why we drive and love these old projects. If I want a "picker-upper" a drive around the block always does it for me. The reaction of the public tells me that I have also helped someone else get a smile and a memory to help them through the day. I sometimes call it a one man car show. By the way, great looking coupe--it put a smile on my face this morning. I think I'll go for a drive.......Brownie

Enjoyed your story Michael. It is great when people stop and ask about the Hudson. Sometimes even get leads on one that is forgotten about somewhere.I have not driven my '49 Hudon for a few months as it has a miss and I have not taken time to trace it. Probably a stuck valve. I really miss not driving a Hudson. Last year, we were in a local parade with lots of tri five chevies, corvetts, porches and a variety of Fords plus mopars, Guess what car the kids noticed and had their parents take a picture of. My '49 is blue and the kids point and say "Doc Hudson". It is cool as they will remember that Hudson long after the others. Enjoy your Hudson and have a great day.

Great story, love to hear them.
I went to a local cruise in last Wednesday and was swarmed by most of the people there asking about Hudson, and of course 'I didn't know Hudson made a truck'. Had a great time, even had some people from Holand there taking pictures next to it. Would love to get a copy of one of those pics, the girl was dressed likd a pin-up! -
You're so right. A Hudson or Terraplane around here is a rare beast indeed. My '36 Terraplane is a quite dilapidated original one that really gets the old guys excited. They say "it's years since I've seen a car like this, whatever you do don't paint it!"

I was at the gas station with my 46 pickup on my way over to Vintage Coach saturday when a guy stopped me and told me how rare truck I had. He had been in the restoration business and had seen lots of chevy and fords but never a Hudson. He was surprised it ran so well. I told him while there were "rare" trucks outside the club within the club there were plenty of them. I then told him he could find a few out in Fontana, if he wanted to buy one.
So Jay do I get discount on parts now?
Jay
