A very nice Terraplane that belonged to Reza Pahlavi, the former Shah. This is part of a collection of his cars that is in a Tehran suburb. It's amazing the ayatollahs didn't purge all that was the Shah's after he was deposed. Thankfully, they didn't."The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..." -
Very Cool!

I was in Iran for 2 months in early 74 while the Shah was still in power! They are the most crazy drivers you will ever come accross, I'm amazed that any of these nice cars survived being driven in Teheran. Nice people though as long as you were on the Shah's side - hospitable, articulate & sophisticated but they had yet to learn that 3 into 2 just doesn't work on the road.Dave Y

interesting that a man who could have bought anything he wanted would have picked a staid '33 T6 sd.

A lot of people don't know that Iran actually contains a good number of classic American cars. I converse with a guy once that had a very babied '59 Caddy. Hopefully we won't bomb the country and destroy those cars or their western sympathetic owners.

Ameila Earhart's publicity photos with the Terraplane may have had some influence.

Yeah, you would think they would've wanted a Studebaker Dictator. LOL -
Actually there was an African dictator who had a '36 Terraplane. The HET Club librarian sent me xerox's of all of the '36T stuff that they have in the library back in 1992 when I first got my Terraplane. I just did a quick search in the garage and didn't come up with it (my filing system sucks!) But this guy even gave his Terraplane an African name. I will keep looking and post it when I find it. Pretty interesting stuff, his '36T had magical powers, like mine - LOL!
