352 packard engine question
-
Yes they did, but only for the Caribbean. Now, you could go to a Packard dealer back then and order all the stuff to put it on any engine in any model of car, which is what happened here, or someone parted out a Caribbean in the past and put the dual quad setup on it. Either way, it isn't "factory correct", but it's extremely possible that it was dealer installed.

Thanks for the information Turbopackman. It is a powerful looking engine with dual quads sitting on top. It was impressive looking setting in that 55 Hudson Hollywood.
I believe it was mentioned that the engine came out of a 1956 Caribbean. Do you know what the HP and torque is with the dual quad set up? What was this set up called by Packard?
I remember my friends father bought a new 55 or 56 Packard with self leveling suspension. That was the largest car on the block.
Back then nobody parked there cars on the street. There were enough kids on the block we could make up four ball teams. We would play baseball in the street. Unfortunately, once in a great while, a ball would find a car parked in the driveway. Gary's dad was not a happy camper when one of those fly balls zeroed in on that big Packard. Fortunately, it wasn't me that hit that fly ball.
Thanks again for the information. Lee -
If the engine came out of a '56 Caribbean, it's a 374 with 310 hp and 405 lbs-ft of torque. As far as I know, it wasn't called anything by Packard, nothing cool like Hudson's "Twin H Power", that's for sure.
