Leo was the owner of Utah Noodle Parlor. As a high school student I thought it was the best food money could buy. Leo spent a number of years in "America's Prisoner of War" camp here in Utah. His family lost everything when their southern California farm was taken away. Leo worked nights to put himself through school and opened his noodle parlor in the mid 50's. What he loved most about America were the cars. The BIG cars, and he bought a lot of them over the years. Last count was around 250 mostly Cad's. All from 1954 to 1965. The ones that were perfect went into storage--low miles, clean one owners and pretty much in perfect shape. 25 to 30 were in a field behind his parlor. With inter city changing as it does, a lot of rocks were thrown over the 12 ft high fence. Most in the field were in pretty rough shape. Oh, did I mention that they were all coupes and convertibles... The city condemed the property this week and had all the cars impounded. Lucky for the collectors, the cars in storage were sold off over the past year. My neighbor, one of Utah's finest, took me by to look at two Hudsons in the pack. They were sad and represented the loss of the American icon of the automobiles built in the early 50's..... Nothing here to save...... Ya can't take them with ya----DRIVE THEM TILL YOU DIE AND LET SOMEONE ELSE LOVE THEM.....

Sad but true... It seems like lately I'm hearing many stories like this. Could be just that I am more aware of it.

Usually these take-overs are driven by the siren song sung by developers to the city/town officials of how much more money could be made from the land if they (the developers) were allowed to build a 1500 room convention center or a beautiful new sub-divison or some sort. Trouble is the city is then stuck with having to put in new sewer/water lines, roads, etc that cost an arm and a leg.

    SAVE A JUNKYARD - SHOOT A DEVELOPER!!!

Yep, modern sub divisions to me represent what's wrong with our country. In the mid-west they're taking the third most productive farm land on planet earth and planting houses in those fields. They're cheap, pre-fab, all look the same and attract people looking to escape urban sprawl (in some cases minorities) and buy a house they can actually afford. The problem is they're creating the exact same urban sprawl they're trying to escape. Their poorly raised kids are out there with nothing to do just get into trouble. Then they smack their heads and say "omg there's no police, fire, adequate capacity schools, or infastructure out here?!" They raise the taxes killing the affordability that attracted people there, the developer is out of the picture made his money and left. Most of the sub-divisions have a bunch of knit-picky rules about what you can do on your own property killing the advantage of living out in the rural areas. The worst ones are gated communities which are a step back to the walled off cities of the dark ages. The cherry on top is it's all done without any intelligent plan. They move next to a junkyard or airport and then have the nerve to complain about the noise or the "eyesores" and wonder why the property was cheap in the first place.

I'll take a junkyard over that any day!

Well said, Aaron. I'd take a junkyard as a neighbor any day too!

America has gone down the $#itter. It's a joke of its former self. I hope I can move back to my ancestral Germany, the sooner the better.

Oh, I disagree that America is a joke! Even with all our problems, it's still the best country to live. Besides, you would have to come back for the Hudson national. Doesn't get any better than that.

Ken, I would not discount that we have a few problems here in the "Good Ole USA." It is no joke what our elected representatives are doing to us. But, have you been in Germany recently? Nice place to visit--doubt that I could afford to or want to live there.

Besides, if our leaders continue with the direction that they are going we will be just like a lot of the countries over there. Since I am not rich... That is not good!!! "jmho"
