headlight switch or something esle wrong?
-
hey, first off my name is cody and i am new to this forum, i am a proud owner of a 66 ford Thunderbird town landau. i picked this up about a month ago and i am going through the car and trying to take out all the bugs and find out what is wrong with it as it was sitting for 15 years.
i got to car to run, but i have no lights at all.
heres my issue! i have no lights what so ever, no head lights, no dash lights, no map lights
the only lights that work is the lights in my overhead console, and my blinkers. i have replaced my dimmer switch, and my fuses what esle could be wrong? -
The headlight switch for that vehicle should feed directly from a fuse link wire attached to the hot side of the starter solenoid, headlights and taillights work without having the key on. I would check to make sure that the fuse link's are properly hooked up and not burned out.

we have only found one of the fusible links and we put a test light to it and it is getting power to it. do you know where the other fusible links are? i don't have a manual for it yet. -
I'm sorry to say that i do NOT have a wiring diagram for that vehicle. All i can say at this point is that some of those older Ford vehicles had one "large" fuse link that attached directly to the hot side of the solenid then went into the wiring harness and "split out" to smaller fuse links that feed the individual circuits. Maybe the main link is "ok" but one or more of the smaller links is bad. Perhaps you can find a wiring diagram on the web, it would sure be a help in this situation.

I have a wire diagram for a 67 if that will help you.
Orange with Black feeds the headlight switch and the a Yellow with Black feeds the dimmer switch.
Let me know if you want it, I can e-mail it to you.
