i need to take the ignition of an oldsmbolie super 88 to get a key made for it by a lock smith can anyone tell me how to do it? or what tools id need or where i could look to figure out how to do it, thank you very much!

Disconnect the battery first. Then remove chrome ring froma around the ignition on the front of the dash. I think a special tool exists for this but I just usually use a screw driver and a hammer to tap the ring counter clockwise to loosen and then turn off by hand. THe assembly will come out the back and then you can get to the wires you have to disconnect. Remember to lable them.

yea actually the silver ring didnt even need any tools it came undone with just my fingers but thank you very much for the help, youve made my life a whole lot easier!
