Dont know what to look for
-
a couple days ago my car started not starting up right away.By the way its an 88 t-bird.and today at the store it completly wouldnt start had to call for a ride and everything. So its turning over but isnt even trying to run-no gas is getting in it sounds like. When I turn the ignition on I hear a hissing or running noise from the fuel pump for maybe 2-3 seconds then it stops, but I think it has always done that.and it also makes that noise during and after I try and crank it.My question is what should I look at when I go back to find out if it is the injectors or maybe the fuel pump.Any advise would be helpful.Thank You

The fuel pump running and then shutting off after you turn on the key is normal, this pressurizes the system for starting. It sounds to me like a ignition module/stator problem. Probably no spark or injector pulse is present when trying to start. Hard to say which it will be with out hooking up to a tester. They were both very likely to go out.

V-8 - Duraspark II has a module I think mounted on the fender and they go bad a lot but usually when warm.
V-6 - TFI (Thick Film Ignition) module is located on side of distributor, also known to go bad a lot.
