HEI Upgrade for Pontiac 400
-
Getting ready to upgrade my 1970 Pontiac Catalina with a 400 from points to an HEI Ignition. I'm looking at a company on EBAY that looks resonable.

Anyone have any words of wisdom, before get started? What to look for when purchasing. This one above appears to be the right fit for my car. -
It appears that they cover it pretty well as to what you need to do. It looks like a nice unit. Remember, this will remove the originality of your car engine if you are worried about this. You will also have to purchase and coil and coil cover.
Follow their instructions and you should be good to go.

I agree with Ron about the originality of your engine compartment, if that is of any concern. Also keep in mind that your plug wires will NOT fit on this new cap, so you will need to purchase new wires for a newer model with HEI ignition. If keeping your engine compartment original is a concern, then i would suggest a Pertronix conversion kit and keep your original distributor.
