Time for "From the Archives" section in WTN

I was digging through some of my Hudson odds and ends and ran across a letter from the late George Schmidt from 1985 concerning questions I had about making my Supermatic work. For those of you that did not know George, and I only knew him from our letters, he was a wealth of knowledge about Hudsons and, although a bit quirky, he was more than willing to help when asked. He also typed all correspondences. Not that long ago he still contributed to the WTN. Anyway, in the letter he commented that he had written several articles in the WTN on trouble shooting: Overdrive, Drivemaster, Vacumatic Clutch, etc. These dated back to the mid 70s or there abouts. The reason I bring this up is that there are many many articles written by George and many members that have passed on that many of us will likely never find on our own let along knowing they even exist.
It is my opinion that it is time to bring these articles back into the light so a new generation of Hudson enthusiast can enjoy and learn from them. -
I agree. There is a wealth of old technical and historic articles in back issues of WTN's, that are lost to newer readers. We can't ask Sam to reprint them because he obviously has more than enough "new" stuff to fill each issue. But perhaps, at some point, some intrepid volunteer will scan some of this stuff and we can put it online for all to see.
I saved every letter George Schmidt ever sent me, and these go back to the 1970's. An amazing guy and the Club is poorer without him. -
Material for the On-line Library??? I don't have the older issues of the WTN, but if somebody can supply the material I can scan and put it on-line.

Why can't we ask Sam to reprint them? I'm sure Sam is open to suggestions for articles for the WTN.

There's an AWFUL LOT of material in the past 50 years of WTN's! Probably take you 5-10 years to scan it all, working part-time.
Rather than set out to make PDF's of each issue, we might offer to scan any article requested by HET members (who have consulted the above-mentioned index to determine which article they need). Then the scanned PDF can be e-mailed or otherwise made available to the requestor.
Once scanned on an 'as-needed' basis, the articles would go into the big pile of available articles. Then, the scanning person can scan other articles which haven't yet been requested. By this method the entire 50 years can be methodically built up, without requiring anyone to wait for their needed article.
I'm sure that, amongst us, we can come up with the WTN's to scan. I'll bet Sam has a full set by now. I have a full set from 1971 up. Older members probably have the early issues. -
Well, first we should maybe just get George scanned and on-line, don't ya think Jon???
The tech bulletins Art Adams used as center folds when he was WTN editor have been done and are in the on-line library.
