37 Terraplane upholstery info
-
I am looking for the measurement in between the strips on the seat of a 37 Terraplane coupe split bench seat and perhaps the width of the strips as well.
I put back in the diamond tuft crushed velvet interior that was in the car when it I got it, I restored the rest of the car and was just going to use this interior temporarily...I got the car back on the road in 1990. It's time to git er done.
Thanks. Bob Callfas -
I wouldn't stake my life on it, but isn't the bottom part (the seat cushion) the same in either the 2-door or 4-door? And thus, wouldn't the pleats (folds, or whatever they call those things) on the seat back, be a continuation of the ones in the cushion? Or don't you have them in the cushion either?

JON is correct on this , the pattern/dimensions are the same on all models

Coincidentally, I obtained an original '37 Terraplane seat last October, of which I am salvaging the seat cushion to use on my car. (At some point someone had put non-original dual seat cusions in my car, and I wanted to get back to the real thing.) The cushion is now at the upholsterer's and I'll drive the Terraplane over there as soon as he starts, in order that he can align the pleats (tucks? lumps?) on the seat back, with those on the newly-upholstered cushion.
I could get you these dimensions, though it takes some time since my car is parked in a storage unit across town. -
You guys are correct, the pleats do continue along both cushions. I have good photographs to give the upholstery guy and I am just in need of the measurements. Thanks

Any further help on this, the seats are in the upholstery shop. Bob

I"ll try to get over to the upholstery place today (Thursday). It's several miles from here, but the original seat cushion is there which I can measure. Can't make any promises, though.

Here ya go. The fore-to-aft dimension shows positioning of the 4" button (one is missing in this photo but you can see the ghost image).
The folds (pleats? strips?) are centered left to right so that 12-3/4" gap between them, is right smack in the middle of the seat.
I didn't get over to see the seat BACK, that's stored somewhere else in town!!seat cushion 1_12726219071000494.JPG747 x 560 - 56K
