Any tricks in cleaning whitewalls & keeping them looking new?

Not sure if you can get this product where you are, but, I have used a product called "JIF" cream. Powerful cleaning without harsh scratching.

Just squeeze a small amount onto a nail brush scrub away, rinse off and they come up white , works avery time, have used it for years and years and my white walls are always white, no yellowing after years of use.

Here in the states the JIF cream they sell is brown and smells like peanuts.

I've used a product called Wesley's Bleche White for many years with great results. Spray it on, scrub a small bit with a stiff plastic brush, hose it off. It even whitens your old yellowing whitewalls to like new. Old tires will begin to yellow again after a year though, so require a repeat application.

You're right, Hudson 308, Westley's is great stuff. I've used it for 50-60 years. You'll wonder where the yellow went!

Another tried and true method I've found to work great is simply a sheet of 400-600 grit sandpaper and copious amounts of water from a hose. No chemicals involved! It does take a little bit of 'elbow grease', but I've found the tires to look even whiter than when using the chemicals.

I use Armor All Cleaner with a nylon bristled brush.

AAC is general purpose too, so you can use it on your dash, seats etc.

Actually, isn't the basis of Bleche White, just bleach? You might try mixing some with water and using it on the whitewall....but don't get it in your eyes, splash it on your clothes, or breathe it!

I spoke to a rep at Coker tire recently, and he advised me to use Simple Green and a stiff brush,than follow with 400-600 wet sandpaper. It does work well. They are not fans of Bleche White because it damages the natural compounds in the rubber tires,and can cause fine cracks to develop over time.Granted, it does work well. Another fine product is Brighty Whitey sold on line, no harsh chemicals, similar to Tide.

An interesting concept: using the sandpaper after washing.

Theoretically, that would make the whitewall surface smoother (and smooth off any roughness caused by age, sort of like compounding an old paint job). Which makes the surface smoother. Which gives dirt less of a place to lodge. Which means you don't have to scrub the whitewall quite so often.

(Anyway, the concept sounds good on paper.)

Looks like everybody has there own favorite... Mine= Simple Green and a

green scotchbrite pad.

I just turn the little woman loose on the car and tell her to make sure that the whitewalls are spotless after she has finished the interior, put a new coat of wax on the exterior and polished up the chrome real nice.

On a good day she can knock out the entire project in 6-8 hours.

Thanks everyone for your input i will pass on all your recommendations to the missus. (director of cleaning)Maybe some wet & dry may get rid of some of her inperfections as well:D

I have always had good results using 3M SCOTCHBRITE (green scouring pad) and any all purpose liquid cleaner.
