Fuel Pump Rebuild
-
I've got a couple extra fuel pumps that I have picked up on E-Bay over the years--one a NOS--the other an unused rebuild.
I would like to try my hand at rebuilding one or both.
Am I correct that the NOS pump should be rebuilt because of the potential for deterioration of the membranes? Or, should I just put it on and see what happens???
Who supplies good quality rebuilding kits?
Thanks -
It is my understanding that any old, NOS, etc., fuel pumps should be rebuilt, as the material the membranes are made from will eventually fail due to the additives put into modern gas.
I picked up a couple of kits for my fuel pumps from these folks:

Don't fool around, send it to Dave Kostansek. You need tools to do the correct job. Walt.It is my understanding that any old, NOS, etc., fuel pumps should be rebuilt, as the material the membranes are made from will eventually fail due to the additives put into modern gas.

I have just done my dual action fuel/vac pump and got the kit from "Then & Now Automotive" 447 Washington Street, Weymouth, MA. Ph. 781 335 8860,
Fax 781 335 1925, email: oldpartstom@aol.com
I also got 2 carb rebuild kits for Carter WA-1. I found them very good and they managed to get the stuff to me here in New Zealand.
The fuel pump was a bit tricky to rebuild being dual action but a standard fuel only pump should be a piece of cake. Hope this is of some help to you.
Regards Mike. -

That's the folks in my post (above). Website has a lot of good info & will help with identification of the fuel pumps to be rebuilt. You'll need to either send them an email or give them a call to place your order with them.I have just done my dual action fuel/vac pump and got the kit from "Then & Now Automotive" 447 Washington Street, Weymouth, MA.
