parts suppliers

I am becoming concerned. I have been in the HET for over 20 years and frankly I have had little need to purchase a large amount of parts for my Hudson other than an occasional replacement here and there as my car was a ground up in the early 90s. This club has always been respected for its members assisting others in restoration and, or knowledge and this forum attests to that. But, the other advantage was the abiity to purchase repo parts from knowlegeable suppliers to restore and keep the vehicles on the road. Two companies dominated the after market field for Hudsons. Full-line and K-Gap. First Full-Line appeared to have thrown a hissy fit and left alot of innocent people in doubt of their investment, ie, the cars. Considerable bitterness was felt by many members over the poorly executed withdraw of Full line by the Bells. The Kales attempted to pick up some of the slack. But it seems that a fissure as big as the San Andreas Fault is widening with what appears to me as the Kgap issue. Although I have bought parts from he Springs without incident as late as 2 years ago, appearantly things have changed. Even Hudson "specialists" have been poorly treated, so I have heard. Has the National Board looked into this? If this alleged poor treatment, continues then the future looks bleak for HET, unless some one with the knowledge, kindness and respect for the hobby like the Kales steps up to buy out Kgap or starts a competitive company. I would rather remain neutral on this issue, but a conversation recently has convinced me that a problem does indeed exist. We all have an investment to consider.

I too would like to remain Neutral having purchased from both K Gap & Full Line with no delay problems in the past.

Ive heard rumors that Full Line stopped selling Repo Parts because they never felt really accepted by the Club like K Gap was, and indirectly began to feel there was no room for two Suppliers to a small market segment of Hudson Owners...

I understand that Full Line (Bell) still has some Hudson Products, but since out of the business now, doesnt care if he sells them or not, even with the current Supply problems.

In defense of K Gap though, I think the Spring's have important primary full time Jobs along with growing Family activities and doing the best they can with any remaining time for the Business, whereas the Kales ran the business pretty much full time when necessary.

I agree if something doesnt change to recieve Orders more timely, it may effect future Hudson Restorations, and/or K Gap's overall future Business, since I suspect Hudson Owners are finding other Supplier Outlets for their immediate needs.

Ron, This is just my opinion so you can take from it what you wish. I have not been a Hudson person for as long as you have; however, in that period of time I have worked on and/or completed more than a dozen cars. Three of the Hudson brand. I worked with and called the Kales friends and the same holds true with the Springs. I purchased my last item from KGAP early this week and found their response to my email timely and efficient. My email was sent last Saturday and the parts arrived today. This is not a "rare" experience, I have been purchasing parts for my current project over the past year with the same experience. I have a few local collectors who have been doing the same thing. Our question remains: Why is everyone spreading this hate and discontent?

In my opinion and experience your post is unfair, unaccurate and totally uncalled for. I am not blind to the growing pains that KGAP have experienced since the transition but it seems to me that this is water under the bridge and the Springs are doing a great job tending to business, communicating with customers and providing our much loved and rare parts. The sad part about your post is that it is way off the mark in a few areas. Just to remind you, KGAP is an independent business that trades in Hudson parts. Our National, or for that matter local, organization has no business or influence with their business practices. It would be much like the National club trying to take control of my local chrome plater?

In short, if you have been wronged by a business take it up with the business, but, please do not air your precieved issues (since you have not been dealing with KGAP based on your post) and destroy to solid, open and efficient business transactions that the rest of us are having.

I am moving this thread to the Discussions Forum, since different people will have had different experiences with the aforementioned company and therefore there will be some differences of opinion on this issue. I do, however, expect that our Hudson people will continue to have a civil discussion on this subject. If things don't continue in that vein, I will of course close the thread to any further discussion.

I figured that some passions might fly. Then I presume that these threads about lack of communication, unfilled orders after checks being cashed and the such are mostly unfounded. Therefore I apoligize for questioning the integrity of any of the forementioned.

Sorry , but your the one that is way off base - is there a K Gag in crowd us outsiders need to join to get our PREPAID orders from them . Ive been waiting over 4 months on parts -that is a result of them sending the wrong parts last july .Theydont answer the phone or return calls, or reply to emails-what should I do show up at their house Guess I should just eat S----T for fear of affecting "your efficient business transactions .

I e-mailed Kaylene yesterday and what I needed is being sent out today. She said that she had stepped on a 2 1/2 inch deck nail and had been laid up.

I'm sure that slowed down the shipping department.

Well I have expresed my opinion way back on another thread. But since this came up again I will jump in. I had very good dealings with the Kales. They shipped the part with an invoice and THEN I paid. I have to admit that is a rare occurance in todays world where contract law and a persons word are worthless. I know they were not making a big (if any) profit...... Then the new owners took over. They obviously do not know how to run a business. I don't think they have the time to devote to doing it correctly.. Even if they even knew how. Does this sound harsh? I'm sorry, but facts are facts. I am not baseing my opinions on others experiences. I am basing it on MY experience with this company. Is it a shame that it's gotten this far? Yes! Is it the fault of over expectation on the part of the customer? I think not. The least a customer expects is COMMUNICATION. That is one ingredient that is missing. The other is Integrity.. If what I hear or read on the forum is true..Some people get first class treatment others ..not so much.. Hmm ..

I only wish I wasn't all the way across the continent. otherwise I would make an offer to buy them out and try to put the company back together. I have experience running a businesses that didn't make a profit! LOL

I'm sure it's not a very profitable business. Probably more of a contribution to the hobby than profitable. Maybe they thought it would bring more income than it actully does and it's a burden ? My previous comment was that I hoped someone with the resources would buy them out and continue what was once a going business. I still hope this happens.Kgap has done the club and it's members a service in the past. It no longer is doing so.

As to the National club getting involved..? If it's members are not treated equally and not treated well, then perhaps the club has a responsability to warn it's members that Kgap is NOT a recommended nor sponsored company.. Nothing wrong with that! It's a fact..

Again, I say. I am making these coments from MY experiences ..

OK I have my flak jacket on...fire away..
