50 Super 8 Brougham
-
Okay, you guys... it was pretty exciting when the '50 Super 8 coupe came up for sale in California last month.

Here's a chance at another "1 of 1". I've been aware of this '50 Super brougham for sale at a local salvage yard for a number of years, but I didn't realize what was there until "James P" reminded me it's actually a Super 8. What threw me off is the car currently has a 262 in it, with an OD trans. Jim reminded me that it has a "503" VIN number... originally a '50 Super 8. The car is very rough... the bottom of it is basically gone. But because the VIN and front subframe are intact, this could still be the basis for an ambitious restoration. The best part is that if you were to show up with $250.00 and a flatbed, the car could be yours. Here's a link to the salvage yard website...

The car is the 4th one down if you do a search by "Hudson" make.

There was some doubt as to the identity if this hulk, so I drove out to the boneyard yesterday to read the VIN myself. It's 501112952... a Super 6. I'm relieved no one here fired off a check to Sonny's Salvage.Workin Stiff

Yep that one needs a lot of help. Super 8 Brougham is still an unseen animal.

Hudson308-
Thanks for double-checking. Ever since that last Super 8 made it's way to Australia (or I should say, in the process), and I missed getting it by mere minutes, this car was sorta in the back of my mind and I contemplated pursuing it further. A Super 8 brougham, I'd go cross country for, a S6, probably not. -

Well, the restoration of this one wouldn't be any harder than it was for your convertible, Russell!
I was "this close" to buying the thing myself... a '50 Super 8 brougham 45 minutes away and cheap. My neighbors woulda loved it. :eek:Workin Stiff -

It's ironic, a Super would blow my skirt up, when I'm really itching for a Comm., but the really rare ones always get my attention. Next one's gotta be in better shape, though . . . the 'vert has just about killed me and there's still a long way to go.
