I have a 52 chev with the hood springs off, but the hood is on. What is the safest way to put them on? ,It looks like when one of the bolts are removed on the arm on the hood, while the hood is open, the one end of the spring hooks on the body and the other will reach the hood arm, pivoted down. Then I assume the arm needs to be forced back up to the correct position to replace the bolt. Is this the best way? Fingers are precious these days,

    Thanks, Bobby

Well we never heard from anyone in chevy land so we made a tool. 1/2 inch gas pipe. End flattened to shape of tall oval. Used it to hook spring over the pipe, push pipe down over crossmemberbrace to bring end up to hood hook. pushed end over hood hook and lifted pipe up to allow spring to slid onto the hood hook. Takes some muscle and is tricky to position but worked well. P.S. Spring needs to hook onto hood hook in from outside , not in from inside, to properly clear hinge. Also coils down.;)
