Dropping pan 53 Super Wasp

Hi everyone, just wanted to relate my experience on my 53 Super Wasp coupe. I have owned this car for several years but never got started on it, this year I am finally making some progress. I dropped the pan today and the oil pickup was stuck to the bottom in sludge, severely limiting the amount of oil that could be pumped. I'm glad I never tried to drive it like this! So, to all you people who get a car that has been sitting, take an extra few hours and drop the pan, it will be well worth it in the long run, you may well save your engine!

Amen Dave, the 54 Super Wasp I took apart had an old mouse next in the upper part of the pan, they apparently got into thru the bullet hole in the timing cover.
Apparently when the old mice died, they just pushed them off into the sump as several of them were becoming thick oil, which is maybe why it wouldn't drain out of the drain plug. -
Hey Dave, Glad to hear your finally getting that old Hudson running again. Maybe that would explain the slight noise you heard in the engine. Missed you at the Winter Banquet last month.
