'57 Buick Roadmaster Ragtop
-
Mr dad just "inherited" a "57 Buick RM - that has been garaged forever with 76,000 original miles. Although basically in great shape, it does need a tail light assembly and some work to restore to showroom quality. My dad wants to just sell it
to Jay Leno or maybe the Japanese, as they love these cars from what he says. Me, I'm totally against it and want to restore it and keep this gem in the family!! If anyone knows someone with original parts for this car, please let me know. -
I'm with you Steve, I'd try to get him to give/sell it to me. If you like the car you will have a ball with it for sure.
If you need more information that what may be given on this board, I suggest you try the AACA message boards in the Buick section. These people are hard core Buick people just like the Hudson people are here on this site.
Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck and find your answer and hope it's to your liking.

Steve, if you're serious about keeping this car, be aware that lots of parts are out there, but don't post a message and hope that people will contact you with lists. You'll have to do a bit of searching on your own, but it will pay off.
My advice would be to join a club devoted to these cars, because that is where you'll find a clearinghouse of information about parts and technical help, and a network of fellow owners from whom you can get help.
Here is one club; it may be the largest national Buick club, I'm not the expert on this. http://www.buickclub.org/ They will have regions or chapters, maybe one in your area. There may be a specialty club for Buicks of your era, as well. Try Googling it.
