I just plain like the look of these 112 sedans. Love the rear true prewar look. Great for bombing along in a gangster movie.

What a nice original car, with a great dash. Has the deluxe clock also. I'm partial to 39's anyway.

I was thinking the same nice original car to start with. Only problem I see is this seller always overprices his cars.

Are those rear tail lights original to this year? They do not appear to be correct. Also, I see some missing pieces of britework - not much, and the pieces may be 'in the trunk'.

Yes! Those are the correct tail lights. I have a pair of those that I got from the fella that hot rodded a 112 sedan.

Rick, here is a chance for some of those parts that you need for your truck! :D

Thanks Kevin - Dave and yourself confirmed that they are most likely original and factory.

As for getting the parts I need from the car - unlikely, as it is in very good shape - much too good to be a parts car.

Rick, I agree. This car is way too nice to turn it into a parts car. If my "restoration buddy" would agree to help me I think I might consider putting in a bid. Probably will not make the reserve this time. Might consider it next time it comes for sale; if that happens. Sure looks like a solid car. The lines on the rear of the car appear to be really straight.

I sure like those tail lights. Does anyone reproduce lenses for them? were they an option. I have seen 39's with the round tail lights up further on the fenders or even on the body.

Those lamps were the only ones we had here in Australia for the 39-112, the other round ones were used only on the 1938 Terraplane.

I am used to seeing 38 and 39's with this style of tail light. Here is a 39 Coupe.

Yup, that's what made me think that the other lights were not stock/standard.

Reading into the offer, the seller did himself and the car a 'favor' by putting it back together - It will get much more as a 'roller' vice photos of a bunch of parts - and elevates it from that 'parts car' to a restorable classic.

I don't think it will make the reserve this time - The seller is known for being on the high side, so I am sure you'll see it on eBay multiple times...

If you pulled the engine rebuilt it and got it running I would almost be tempted to just drive it the way it is for a while. Sure looks like a nice car. Blanket over the seat and off you go.

Here is another 39 coupe with the round tail lights on the fenders.

Looks like it might be a utility coupe as it has the gas cap in the fender instead of the body. Don't know how practical that slide-out bed is but they sure look neat!

    Sean-

I'm going to harness a guess here on the round vs. oblong taillights. Might the round taillights be on a 92 series car? Butler isn't much help here, as rarely is there a picture of the rear of the car.

The elongated taillights are certainly more elegant, IMO.

Bid is now at $3150. Anyone think this is anywhere close to the reserve?

Just a WAG (based on watching some of this vendor's auctions for quite a while), but I would say that it isn't even half way to their reserve. If I were to hazard a guess, the reserve is probably set @ $7K or above -

    Here's their website -
    http://www.motoexotica.com/default.htm

Years ago they would have their offerings for sale separately on their website (giving an actual sales price), but they don't do that anymore - guess eBay gave them a hard time about it. If it does not meet the reserve/sell during this auction, they may post it later with a BIN (buy-it-now) price in a follow-up or later auction.

The round tail lights as shown on the yellow coupe are for Series 89 & 90 Coupes and Convertibles (38 & 39 112). However, I have seen 38 Terraplane tail lights on a 39 112 Coupe! Apparently it is fairly easy to play mix-and-match with some of these assemblies.

I sent a couple of '38-'39 "frog eye" pics to Rick and asked him to post them to this thread so you can see more clearly what they look like.

A long time ago I had a '39 Pacemaker, Model 91 Coach that had the "frog eye" style tail lights on the side of the body. For that reason I kind of thought the tail lights on this '39 112 were incorrect too, but the above discussion seems to reflect the vertical tail light was right for the 112. I knew the vertical style was used on the greater series cars.

There is another '39 112 Sedan listed in the WTN (no photos), located in the St. Louis Area.

And, MotoExotica is located in the St. Louis area...

My guess is that this eBay car is the same one that was offered in the WTN ($3K), and it was bought by 'MOTOExotica' for a quick turnaround 're-sale' -
    http://www.hetclub.org/classifieds/classifieds.htm

I have emailed the seller listed in the WTN, inquiring about this -

3K would be a nice price to pay for this car. This seller will repost many times and not sell.

Got an email response to my inquiry concerning the '39 Hudson 112 offered in the WTN. In part -

"The car was never my car. It was my brother’s car. He passed away and I was trying to help my sister-in-law sell it. She was impatient and sold it to someone she knew to “get rid of it”.

Yes, that’s it in the e-bay ad. Someone has apparently reinstalled the chrome and the interior. Don’t know if this is who bought it from her or if it has been sold again.

Its back and with a BIN of $7,595. So Rick you were right on pricing. Why would you pay that for this car when you can get the Country Club sedan that is more complete and better buy for $7500 posted a while back on this forum. Shaking my head.

Must be that "RARE" factor that we talk about all the time that makes it worth so much money.. Either that or there is 5K hidden in the car somewhere to help you restore it?

Thanks for the follow-up. Yup - but was hoping I was wrong, and that the seller would just be looking for a 'modest' profit...

The other '39 Country Club Sedan is a MUCH better buy- and a bit cheaper to boot!
