Finest example of what I believe to be a Flicker, that I've seen today!:D

Never seen a flicker here in Utah. Do not know why, they seem to get on well with the snow? Other than eagles and other birds of prey our winters are void of birds... Spring has to be somewhere close....

Very common in western Washington. Can be kind of a PITA when they start pecking on the varge rafter of your house or some such. Seem to be very persistent once they decide upon a place to peck.

Very nice - We don't get those here, just seagulls, woodpeckers, bluejays, etc., and the only ones that appear to hang around this time of year are the buzzards. :(
Our snowstorm just arrived this afternoon, should be gone by tommorrow night - We're in the zone for 'maximum effect', and supposed to get a total of 20"-24" or more. I'll try to take some pictures, in between shoveling and plowing... :D
