Nearly 10 months of searching, I finally got a job offer today!

Doesn’t pay what I’m used to but, It's a good opportunity, and it’s a long term contract – 12 months to start.

I've still got a long road ahead trying to dig myself out of this hole - so I will still be working some on the side - but at least the major hemorrhaging will stop.

Now I can at least go to the bank and try and save the house.

Maybe 2010 will be better? J

    YEAH, DADDY!!! :D :D :D

So glad to hear that, Dan. I've also had to learn the hard way that the best cure for job dissatisfaction is not having one for a few months.

Thanks everyone for all the support!

It's a bit early to tell if I can keep the house - but at least I can go to the bank armed with a job!

You can pretty much bet that you'll get to keep the house, now that you are employed. Lenders are under great pressure to accomodate folks who could afford the house when they bought it, but then lost their income, and now have it back. The tough ones are those who never could afford the house, but got the loan because they (or more often, the loan officer) simply lied about their income when they applied. These were the so-called "No Doc" (no documentation) loans- those in the biz nicknamed them "Liar loans" or NINJA loans (No Income, No Job or Assets). We can thank Barney Frank and Chris Dodd for spearheading the legislation that made that fiasco possible.

I could tell you stories. . .
