Plating or paint?

In studying pictures of the 17 for restoration, I see some of the grease fittings in the pics are nickel plated and some painted. Anyone know whats correct? Any info much appreciated.

I'm not sure about a '17 but I do know that on '19 and '20 they were all nickel plated. Might not be much help but then again maybe it might
