starter problems

my wife just bought me a starter for my 308 she said[after she ordered it] that it was for a std. tranny i have a hydromatic what kind of problem am i facing?

It won't fit sorry. The armature shaft is longer on the auto trans models.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging.
