Have a great Veterans day
-
I just wanted to say Thanks to all the US Veterans and Military personal. I believe you have made it possible for us to be safe and speak freely. Thank you for your service!

I always take this as a personal day, as a reminder to myself of those who have given a portion of their lives so that we are able to freely express ourselves without fear of reprisal. -
This is always a special day for me. Those who give of their time and sometimes more are a special group of folks that are more than a family. Best to all of those of you who have provided service to our country.

I think one of the high-lites of my service time was a day a couple years back, around Veterans Day, when a gentleman came up to me and wanted to thank me for my service and shake my hand. He said he'd noticed the veteran license plate on my car.
Some people do notice small things.
So, on this day I stand in awe with my brothers and sisters at what we have accomplished over so many years protecting our way of life.

A very heartfelt thank you to all of the veterans on this forum.
This country that we live in is the best for so many reasons and we owe much of it to you and your fellows. Having lived in a number of other countries taught me how fortunate we are. -
I had one uncle who was a POW, and survived. Another uncle crashed a B29 two different times and lived to tell about it. The other uncles served, but all are deceased now. Used to call them up and thank them for their service, cant do that now. Sure miss them. I served 3 yr 4 mo and am proud I could, my grandson thanked me for my service today, he's 6. Thanks, for listening. Bob

My son wore my "dress greens" to school for "dress-up day" about 10 years ago- I wasn't sure how it would go over, and told him as much. When he got home, he took a piece of paper out of his pocket and said "Thanks for your service from" and read off about a dozen names of classmates and teachers. Gotta admit I puddled up a little bit- quite a difference from "back in the day" when I wore it. I must say I don't recall any outright hostility, but nobody ever thanked me, either.

I always give my Vets the day off with pay. I figure we have all earned it.
