Hudson pickup
-
Anyone else seen the November 2009 issue of "Diesel Power" magazine? The feature vehicle is a 1947 HUDSON, yes, HUDSON pickup that just happens to have a Ford 7.3 Diesel engine!
It is WWAAAYYYY cool--Truck is licensed and used on the street----Road raced,1/4 miled, and speed-raced. Very interesting story on the User---
However---The truck itself is really neat--Top chopped a small amount, otherwise a beautiful stock-appearing HUDSON p/u. Even has Commodore turn signal lamps on front fenders.
Truck has been heavily modified otherwise, turns quarter mile @ 95mph, has been timed at 138 mph. It's a showcase for Para- and Quadriplegic controls for autos and is actally controlled by use of a mouth control.
Article states that the truck will be shown (and used!) @ SCTA events, including Bonneville. Can't wait to see in person locally.
Another shining article on the great HUDSON vehicles!!! -
I didn't recognize the truck from the description until you mentioned that it was modified for a handicapped person. Did a search, and found another thread on this, and links to a site that goes into the build process -

This is one 'nice' truck! -

Yep, very hard to resist the 'bug'... Especially since the only downside is a diminished pocketbook!OK, now I want to do a truck...... -
Way Cool! Now that's a good lookin' truck! And it's handicap friendly, that itself is way cool. See, no excuses for anybody not getting into the sport.
