Stepdown Carpet Source

I thought I remember someone in the club that was supplying carpet sets for stepdowns, but couldn't find too much when doing a search.

I did find a link to Fryer's Auto Upholstery, and was impressed with the website at least.

    Any other recommendations?

    Thanks for the help.

I bought both the headliner and carpet kit for my Jet from Fryer's and was pleased with both. The headliners are actually drop-shipped from Acme (in CA) and cost less through Fryer's than by going directly through Acme. I know two other Jet owners who were very pleased with their headliners from them. Their carpet kits come from somewhere back east. I bought my seat belts through seatbeltsplus.com

    Hudsonguy-

I bought a carpet set from Bob Rosol in NY. He's a Hudson guy, and an upholstery shop owner. He'll be supplying the carpet and convertible top for the '52, as well. Very nice set, cut and bound edges, fits well, has grommet for headlight switch and cut-out for gas/brake pedals.

Oh man :( I missed a spot. Looking at the pictures, I need to paint my pedals black. I've also realized I don't have a good picture of the driveline hump, but there's a hemmed edge like you see on the other pictures that helps form a curve for it. It came with heel guard, high beam hole, and precut slots for the gas and brake, but I had to cut an additonal slot for the clutch pedal. The kit came as two seperate pieces with jute pad as well. You can see it doesn't completely cover under the front seat, so I later stuck "sound/heat deadening" on that portion. With seats in, you can't tell. The back section goes right up to the base of the back seat. I ran a strip of matching seat vinyl along the edge of the back seat rise to ensure a finished look in case coverage wasn't quite sufficient. I don't have a pic of that either, but you can see where I used the same technique along the door opening and tucked the edge of the vinyl under the door sill plates. The door sill plates have the black strip caulk under them that you heat up a little bit to ensure a good seal.

The green-yellow-brown wiring you see hanging is new wiring I'd run for the domelight and hadn't finished completely connecting. I could have sewn up the carpet for half the price, but decided to be a guinea pig for other Jet owners who might be interested in going that route, was one less worry.

Oh, and the carpet is glued securely to the jute pad on the drivers side, but the jute pad is just lightly adhered with a spray adhesive so I can lift it to get to the master cylinder, which of course was topped off before I started on the carpet!

Bob Rosol is in NJ, not NY. He can send sample pieces to help you choose your colors. He is also a long time HET member.

Does Fryer's have a web site?
