Water pump problems
-
Does anyone know where I can find an adaptor fitting that connects the heater water tube that runs along the right side of the engine to the water pump? Could this part be found at a hardware store or plumbing supply shop? After 25 years, the water pump on my '50 Pacemaker Deluxe! has finally "died". I'd like to update my Hudson with a NOS heater water tube I have instead of using the heater hose that presently runs over the top of the engine as was the case with '48 through '50 stepdowns.
One last question, my spare rebuilt water pump is over 25 years old. Should I be concerned about its age regarding its seals? As always, anytime I replace the coolant, I add a can of water pump lubricant to it. Thanks for any help!
Hudsonly,
Dan
PS: Gosh, I'm going to terribly miss this water pump when I consider all the places it's gone doing its key part in cooling the engine since 1983. When it finally began to "die", it still survived a good 200 miles getting me, a girlfriend and, of course, the Pacemaker Deluxe! home. Good luck "little fella' " in your rebuilding process and may you be part of a Hudson convertible (preferably a rare '54 with a 308) in your next anti freeze/water circulation job. -
Dan, try Al Saffrahn (AZ) or Dr. Doug (IN). I'm guessing either one would have that fitting. Both are in the HET roster.

You're right, Scott. Dave Kostansek does indeed have this part and consequently is sending me one at a modest price. Thanks for the suggestion!
