Ok, so I'm an idiot.

Now, please give an idiot some direction.

In the process of replacing the battery in my '36, I reversed the polarity. I was taking it for a ride (man, it was not running well) and had gone several miles at hiway speeds before I knew something was wrong. (No turn signals, a couple of other things didn't seem right, especially a high speed miss) I returned back to the garage before figuring it out.

So other than the obvious (switch the poles) NOW what do I do?

Theoretically, it should not have made any difference. However, the spark is about 15% inhibited with reversed polarity, which could explain the miss. Just switch the battery back to the original + ground and then re-polarise the generator by momentarily connecting the A terminal (that's the larger post on the generator) to the battery connection at the starter solenoid, and you should be back in action again. One of the dis-advantages of not having an ammeter!

In the november issue of "cars and parts" in the guestions and ans. Page, there is a question from somebody else that did the same thing with a optimo battery. So it nothing new that you have done, and i dont think you are the last one that will do it. There was also a articule on changing door windows, and they used a hudson to demastrate.
