308 crankshaft Identification

Hello All,
How can you tell a 308 crank from a 262/232 (other than mesuring stroke)? Is there a different casting number on them? Any info would br greatly appreciated.Dave W.

Where would you find these forging numbers? Just trying to think of where one would view them, without taking the crank out... :confused: -
Well, you'd have to at least take your oil pan off!
I had this picture in my old gallery here.

If you'll look at the thin counterweight between the #3 rod and the second main - you can faintly see the forging number on the crank.

Sort of figured a pan removal would be required - but was hoping otherwise... Got to remove the pan anyway, so I'll put that on my list of things to do on my engine.
