I'm afraid I'm not acquainted with the '37 Nash wheel but (in the absence of anyone else's replying) I'll jump in here. I have a '37 Terraplane banjo wheel which has a pretty straightforward hub. In my case, if you remove the nut holding the wheel, it just slips right off. You might first try some penetrating oil between the steering shaft and the hub. Set up some vibration by tapping the top of the shaft, then try a bit more penetrating oil, and let it sit. Then, using just your hands from beneath, see if you can whomp the hub it upwards and off the shaft.

The next thing to do would be to rent or buy a standard steering wheel puller, and make yourself a 2-part collar (maybe out of plywood) that will fit around the shaft and distribute the force equally around the hub.

You might also place an inquiry at the Nash section of the AACA's bulletin board: http://forums.aaca.org/f157/

If you plan to muscle the wheel off I recommend leaving the nut on part way.

I removed the nut and busted my lip when the steering wheel broke free from the shaft. Lucky I did not break a tooth.

Keeping the nut on will prevent any facial damage.

Using a puller is the best way to remove a steering wheel.

Just sharing some personal experience. Lee
