valve cover painting
-
I have a 55 Packard 400 2 dr. hardtop, and as we are finishing up the engine compartment, I would like to know what type and color of paint We should use on the
valve covers ???
Any help would be appreciated !!!!

The entire engine should be painted cream, other than the oil filter and the air cleaner. It's up to you if you want to paint the "PACKARD" on the valve covers, and in what color. Most people I've seen paint them the main body color, it looks better IMHO, but no exactly correct. If you want, just have them chromed, it was an option back then and is considered correct by most people.

What color were the 55-56 Nash and Hudson Packard engines?

All the one's I've seen were red, with red valve covers and "Hornet V8", etc, stickers on them. I think '56 Studebaker Golden Hawks used the same no-name valve covers with their own stickers.
