'54 Hornet horn button

Anyone familiar with how the horn button on the '54 large cars is different from the '51-53's ? Mine just has one large coil spring that goes around the steering wheel mounting nut, with the horn wire coming up through the center. The insulator that goes aound the horn-wire contact is missing, of course, but I'm wondering what else I need to get it working right. Tired of reaching under the dash for the aftermarket button.....Thanks, Bob
