Stepdown Body Manual

A friend is looking for what he believes is an earlier more comprehensive 'Body Manual'. Is there such a book?

(I'm not referring to the 137 page, Hudson Body Service Manual 1948-1954, like the one available in the HET Club Store, we already have those.)

    Thanks for the help.

What year are you interested it - there is a 1930-1937 era body manual available along with a 1930-1939 Master Chassis Group Parts Book. The parts book is on-line at:

    Alex,

Well, actually he does have a stepdown. '51 Hornet Sedan. He was told that there is a more comprehensive Body Manual than the one I'm familiar with, that's in the Club Store. He's asked me to assist him in obtaining one.

Actually, he's a professor from Peru that I met at the Pontiac meet, so I'd really like to help him out. He has a disassembled car and I think he'd like a little more direction than he's been able to find.

    Thanks,

    Doug

I do not know of any more comprehensive body manual from Hudson that covers Stepdowns. Does he mean the Chilton Body and Frame manual which goes in to way more depth than the factory manual?

Just wanted to bump this thread to the top again. I'm still trying to determine what if any manual my Peruvian friend is looking for. He's got a '51 Hornet, that is disassembled, and he's looking for a little more guidance than the readily available manual gives him. Maybe it is a Chilton Body and Frame manual that he's looking for. He was just told that 'some book' exists that would help him out.

I also thought that maybe a comprehensive Parts or Flat Rate manual couldn't hurt either. Any other ideas?

As always, all help is appreciated.

Yes, the Chilton Manual is probably the one he's looking for. The Body and Shop Manual that Hudson put out (repros available from club store), is basically a joke, IMO. Other than the info on convertibles, it's nearly useless.

If you look around you will find jobbers who put out crash sheets for various cars. They are about 18 pages and are a little better than the Hudson manual for fixing cars after accidents. They have some nicer assembly pics.

Doug if you run this down let me know. I am not satisfied with the body manual either.
