I give up... You planning to water ski? If so, that won't do it... LOL!What's this in my Hudson garage?
Fishing maybe?
Honestly, those things are cute! Saw one in action, years ago - thought it was going to sink before it got to shore! -
I remember seeing a dealership for them in Van Nuys, Calif.
-
Did this come floating down the Sacandaga and crawl up into your garage?
-
Those Aquacars had to be licensed as cars AND boats in a number of states. If I remember right I think they had Triumph engines but were built in Germany. Heard they did not hold up well in salt water (imagine!)

Welcome to the Amphi world!! You will have a blast with that! Tom, See: http://www.amphicar.com/finzilla.htm

Actually Gail's cousin Ken drove up from Broadabin yesterday to dunk it in our pond after a refurbish to make sure it didn' t leak.
It was hot due to a broken generator pulley (plastic). He located another from a friend and the test should proceed today. Had a good talk and picnic anyway. -
Does it rain that much in upstate New York? Nice looking car--should be a lot of fun....Brownie

I think they have a get together the weekend after labor day in ind. They all go out in the lake together, suppose to be quite site all out in the water at the same time.

With all the rain there has been in NY there is a possiblity this would be a WISE investment! But then again could be it is a great dive platform to add to the pond? Neat car... -
Neat little rig. Remember a student owned one at Washington State U had one parked on the street- I recollect he tried to sell it, and couldn't even give it away.
Happened upon the Amphicar website (amphicar.com, naturally)- Their descriptions of cars for sale usually includes the words, "Runs, Drives, Swims."
Military Armored Personnell Carriers will also "swim"- Went out in American Lake near Fort Lewis, WA in one when in basic training- with about 2 inches of freeboard, its pretty exciting unless the water is dead calm- I can imagine it wouldn't take much water sloshing into the rig to make it sink like a stone. -
We had a DUCK at the Coast Guard station in Chatham, MA, when I was stationed there in the 60's. Great fun trying to get it to the water - most of the streets in Chatham are barely wide enough for 2 cars, never mind a DUCK. Used to love the look on a tourists face as he came around a corner and face to face with the DUCK. LOL We usually had to call the cops to escort us to the boat ramp. LOL

Got 'er fixed. Pond test sucessful. No leaks. Got a ride in it too. More novel than practical unless you've got to ford rivers someplace I think.
Props work forward and reverse independently of wheels, front wheels act as rudders. Snappy and sporty. Would make a good chick magnet, but Ken the owner has been married over 60 yrs.
At 82, he went up and over the side however, 'cause you can't open the doors when it's floatin.
