OK, this is a beautiful restoration, lots of money went into it, but 95K ?

Beautiful yes....worth $95 K... not to me. I could buy 4 quality stepdowns for that kind of money. I could buy a coupe and convert it to a Convertible for less. Wish the guy luck with that though.

Too bad it's not a Hornet with the more reliable 308 six cylinder. Now, that might make it worth the money.

Checked the roster - serial number matches Dennis's 49 convertible.
Going by recent auction results, $95k is about right. Granted out of the range of most except speculators, but......... Park Waldrups '36 Hudson 8 Covert sold for $181,000. Go figure. Park sold it because he was afraid to drive it - that's the sad part of all these crazy prices.

If y'all remember, Dennis (DennisinNY) did a full rotisserie restoration and spared no expense in the process. 6 figures is about right for stepdown convertibles in this kind of shape. Hornet's don't seem to command a lot more than Commodores, although Supers and SWB's typically get a little less. Last year, a '49 Commodore sold for 183,000 at one of the auctions.

My experiemce has been just the opposite . Never blown a head gasket on an 8. 308 has more HP but the eight is silent power!

I think 95k is cheap i know you could not buy my 50 pacemaker cv for that. Step/down cv are all the rage bringing good return on the $

I'm kinda glad the asking money is where it is. Rather see the rarer Hudson get the asking price than a Chevy or Buick. Also, to comment on Walt's experience, a client of mine offered a club member $55K for his 52 Hornet Coupe and was turned down. I would have sold it if it were mine but the owner didn't think he could find another. Again, I would have taken the check and bought a Playboy magazine until another car turned up.

Yes. He bought one that was e-bay a few months ago. A 51 Hornet Coupe that was a race replica. A nice car but I would have steered him to another but he had someone else assisting him aswell.
He is looking for an additional stepdown so I always keep my eyes open for something interesting. -
95K is cheap for a GOOD C8 Convert. There are a few discrepancies in this one, i.e, the lousy seam work on the seats, etc. And dock it at least 5K for that "old lady" sun visor.Arkie

The car is Dennis' Car. As was stated later... Dennis did a full correct restoration on this car. One to be proud of and will hold value.

I only know Dennis through the forum, but, I know there was more than 95k worth of time, parts, and effort rolled into this one.
It took several years just to source the parts used.
It's a shame he's selling so soon after completion - hopefully, it's because he wants to and not because he has to. -
Although I never met Dennis in person, we exchanged emails several times during the restoration of his Hudson. He did a beautiful restoration on the car and has won two very distinguished first place trophies in Connecticut.

Well, good for him. I was surprised a little as well that Dennis sold it. But, he gets his kicks from the restoration phase, more than the owning phase. I' sure the money from the Hudson will fuel some more projects.
