1940 Plymouth P10 Brake help
-
Terry1 wrote:I have a 1940 Plymouth P10 4 door sedan. I have all new everything else but need steel brake lines for it and prefer pre bent. Any idea where I can get them? Thank you
I'd give that idea up real quick , far too many differant cars for anyone to get into prebending brake lines and make a profit when its so easy to bend your own . BUD -
I've been brousing through this forum and came to your question. You can get brake lines and fuel lines [Stainless or regular steel ones] pre bent at a resonable price. If you carefully remove your old ones they can computer bend new lines exactly as the old ones. I had them done on my 41 hudson a couple years ago. B eautiful job. let me know if your still interested and I'll post the info. Jim

Terry
Welcome to the forum. I had a 40 Ply 2 door Sedan in my hi shool years. It served me well.
I would be very surprised if there were pre bent brake lines available for it. There are ralatively inexpensive ready made brake lines in various lengths available at auto parts stores that can be easily bent with a tube bender. Just use your old brake lines as a pattern. The exact shape isn't necessary as long as the fittings are at the correct angles. It is not rocket science. It is not difficult to do and you have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Keep away from exhaust system.
Good luck and keep us posted on your project.
Can you post some pictures of your car? That would bring back some fond memories.

Jim,
I just saw the original post was 2 year ago. How about posting the information anyway. Maybe post it on the Hudson forum also.

Jim---I had some health issues and stopped working on my project but will start back up in a couple of months. would really like to know about the brake lines purchase. From whom? Approx cost? Thank you.

If you can get the old ones off without destorying them you could take them to a brake shop as a pattern & they cold bend a new set for you !!??

Have you tried In Line Tube?
