I need a rebuild guide for a 1955 ford 272
-
Does anyone know a link to a site where I can download the rebuild guide for a 272 Ford? I just got it back from the engine company and have a few gaskets that I do not remember seeing. Thanks in advance

I havn't heard of one. Have you joined the "Y-Block" forum? Nothing against this one, I love them all, but they specialize in the "Y-Block". Contact me direct if you want.....

Then my other suggestion is the book "Ford Y-Block" [How to repair and rebuild the 1954-62 Ford OHV V-8] by James Eickman.
you might try www.half.com www.amazon.com www.ebay.com
or other sellers that you might be familiar with. I had to purchase a BRAND NEW copy from a classic Ford parts company, and can't remember who it was right now, and it's a good book, there are GOBS of photos, BUT the photos are not the quality one would expect and so one must depend on the words more than the photos.
We have a 272 in our 1956 Customline Ford too. Do you have photos? wanna exchange some?
My FIRST brand new car was in Sep 1955; a MAINLINE with six, 3 on the tree.
Good Luck,

thanks for the reply I will look into getting that book. I haven't finished the restoiration yet, but will try to send photos when done. We are going to be selling soon after completion.

Thad;
1955 Ford Shop manuals are available from Dennis Carpenter and other vendors for $32.50 to 35.00. Another source is www.gregsonline.com. They also have the manual for the Ford-O-Matics.
I purchased a 1956 Ford Shop manual for mine and it is quite comprehensive.
