flathead stroker kit
-
I am about to build a hot rod flathead engine and I am looking at stroker cranks at the moment. I have found up to a 4.375" stroker kit for the 239 49-53 engine. I was wondering if anyone has a stroker this large and could tell me how it runs. I was thinks with all that stroke the piston speed would be tremendous and would waer the pistons out quickly. Also with such a long stroke is the motor a little sluggish(slow revving) for a flathead.

Isn't a stroked engine just a standard mercury?

Pistons are the least of your problems, plan to buy a nice six row high density cross flow aluminum radiator in case you need to sit and idle in traffic!
