Timing chain
-
I love this site!!! I have so many questions!! I'm tearing down a straight eight, and am down to pulling the crank. In order to do this I have to remove the timing chain. The original manual I have doesn't tell me how. I'm familiar with motorcycle chains etc.... Do I need a special tool to remove a link? I haven't found a "master link"....Thanks for the help

You don't take links out of timeing chains---unbolt the gear on the camshaft and remove it, while your at it notice the little dots on the cam gear and the crank gear, they are what you line up to put it back on. ---BUD -
Never, I repeat NEVER feel dumb with this stuff. It can be baffling to the best of them.
