1948 Brake Question
-
I need to know how to remove the front brake drums. Looks to be 3 rivets holding it on....is this possible?
Any information would be a big help.
Thanks -
sheriff,
The rivets you talk about should just be holding the drum to the hub. If you're going to work on your brakes, you'll need to take the hub assembly and all off. Remove the dust cap and get at the cotter pin and bearing nut. Remove the outer bearing and the hub and drum assembly should slide right off as long as the brakes are not to tight and holding the drum on. If you have the drums turned, you'll have to take the bearings out anyway and it's always good to clean them and re-pack them.
