1955-56 Ford and Mercury Interchange?
-
Hi guys, my first question here, be gentle.
I don't have much experience with older Fords and have a '56 Mainline Fordor that I bought to mess with. I was just poking around on Ebay and noticed that the Mercury dash layout of the same vintage (55-56) is much more 'upscale.' Anyone know if these items will interchange? I'm talking the whole dash panel, not the cluster. I figured it wouldn't be too bad to just bolt in the whole steel panel form a Merc into the Ford...
I know that the 55 Fords were 6 volt, so I assume the 56 Mercs were 12 volt like the Fords?
Thanks!

MJ;
You might check Auto Interchange Publications in Los Vegas, NV. A car club member here in SC lent me his copy the Interchange Manual for 1963-1974 Ford Products. Might be worth a search to see if they cover older cars. I just bought a 56 Customline 4 slammer to fix up.
good luck,
Jim
